Our shop is at number 20 over in Mahatma Kabir Naga. If you know where the Suba International Hotel is in Andheri East, we are right across from that. It is a small place but it stays busy with all the parcels and letters coming through. Most of the day is spent weighing boxes and sticking labels on things. We have a lot of tape rolls sitting around and the sound of the tape dispenser is pretty much the background noise of our lives here. People come in with all sorts of things they need to send somewhere else. Some are in a big hurry and others just want to make sure their package is wrapped tight. The street outside is always crowded with bikes and people walking to the station. We keep a couple of chairs for anyone who needs to wait while we finish the paperwork. The light in the shop isn't the brightest but it works for what we do. Sometimes when it rains the water splashes up near the entrance so we have to move the boxes further back to keep them dry. It is just a simple operation where we try to get the mail where it needs to go without too much fuss or extra talk. We know most of the people who work in the nearby shops too. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons but we have a small fan that helps. We just keep doing the same routine every day and making sure the logbooks are kept up to date for the pickups.
