We are located at 43 Manju Tower on 3rd Road in Lokhandwala, Andheri West. It’s a busy neighborhood in Mumbai, so there is always something going on outside our windows. At India Gems & Minerals Co., the space is usually cluttered with boxes and small trays of various stones we are sorting through. It’s a bit of a walk up to the office, and the stairs can be tiring when it’s humid. We spend a lot of our time looking at small details under the light. The office isn't very big, so we have to be careful where we put things so we don't trip over them. 3rd Road is often packed with cars and people going to the shops nearby, so the noise filters in throughout the day. We don’t have a big marketing team; it’s just a few of us who know about minerals and gems. We keep the ledger books on a shelf that is starting to sag a little. Sometimes we have a snack at our desks while we work through the afternoon orders. It’s a very hands-on kind of business, where we are constantly touching and checking the stock. We don't worry about sounding professional; we just want to make sure the right items go to the right people. There is a small tea stall just down the road where we go when we need to step away from the magnifying glasses for a minute. It is nice to see familiar faces in the building.
