Our band operates out of Byculla, specifically from A/9 in Taj Colony on Pais Street. It’s right near the Veena Killedar Industrial Estate which is always humming with noise. We practice and keep our instruments there when we aren't out playing at a wedding or a restaurant. We play a mix of English, Hindi, and Konkani songs because that is what people in Mumbai usually ask for. It gets pretty loud during rehearsals but the neighbors are mostly okay with it since they’ve known us for years. We do a lot of parties and corporate events too, so there is always a lot of packing and unpacking gear from the van. It's hard work carrying speakers up and down the stairs at the colony, especially when it’s hot outside. We aren't a big corporate agency, just a group of musicians who enjoy playing together. Sometimes we play late into the night at a venue and then have to haul everything back here to Byculla in the early morning hours. We don't have a flashy website or a big marketing team. Most of our bookings come from people who saw us playing somewhere or heard about us through friends. We just focus on the music and making sure the sound is right for whatever room we are in. Life in Byculla is busy but it's where we started and where we stay.
