If you have ever been stuck on Saki Vihar Road, you know exactly where we are. We sit on the fourth floor of ICC Chambers. It is a busy building in a very busy part of Mumbai. Being in the events business means our office is usually a bit of a mess with floor plans and schedules. We are not the ones on stage; we are the ones in the background making sure the carpet is laid down right and the lights actually turn on. The view from the fourth floor is mostly other buildings and the constant stream of cars below. We do a lot of coordination here. It is a lot of phone calls to vendors and shouting over the noise of the traffic outside. Our team is small and we have been working together for a long time, so we do not really do the whole formal office thing. There is always a stack of badges or some brochures sitting on the breakroom table. We do not have fancy decorations. Most of our walls are covered in calendars and maps of different exhibition halls. It gets pretty hectic when a big show is coming up, and we end up staying late and ordering food from the place down the street. It is just how it goes in this line of work. We stay focused on the logistics and leave the flashy stuff for the actual event days.
