About Hindustan Times Media Ltd – Event & Planning in Mumbai
Our place is in Manali Apartments, unit 4A/51. It’s a bit of an unusual spot for a media office since it’s an apartment building, but it works for us. Being in Mumbai, space is always a bit tight, so we’ve made this work over the years. We handle various tasks for Hindustan Times, mostly on the administrative and local coordination side. It’s a quiet enough building, though you can still hear the city noise from outside. We spend most of the day on computers or on the phone, making sure everything is lined up for the next edition. The office is pretty lived-in, with stacks of newspapers and files everywhere you look. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a sleek office design. We just want to make sure the work gets done and the news reaches people on time. Sometimes the lift in the building is slow, so we take the stairs. It’s just one of those things you deal with when you’re working in an older part of the city. The staff here has been around for a long time, so we’re like a small family. We don't have a lot of formal rules, we just know what our jobs are and we do them. It’s a steady routine of deadlines and details, and we’ve gotten pretty good at it over the years here in Maharashtra.
