Goonj Melody

We have been here at Goonj Melody in Dockyard for quite some time now. Our small place is tucked away in Narsu Nakhwa Chawl on N.V.N. Road. If you know the Mazgaon area, you know it gets very busy, but we like the pace here. People often find us when they are looking for something specific related to music or just happen to be passing through the lane. It is not a fancy setup. We just have our instruments, some speakers, and equipment piled up in the room. Most of the time, the loud noise from the dockyard blends in with whatever we are doing inside. We started out because we just liked sound and how it fills a room. It is a local thing, really. Neighbors stop by to chat or ask about what is playing on the speakers. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know the ropes. Working out of a chawl means space is always tight, but it works for what we do. You have to navigate the narrow paths to get to 14C/5, but once you are here, it is comfortable enough. We spend most of our days fixing things or testing out new sounds. It is practical work. Nothing too complicated. We just focus on the job at hand and try to make sure everything sounds right before it leaves our doors. Living and working in Mumbai 400010 has its own rhythm. We are just a part of that daily grind, keeping things moving in our own way.
