The shop is inside Sahmat Apartment on the link road between Ghatkopar and Mankhurd. If you walk by No. 226, you will probably hear the sound of a saw or the smell of fresh wood shavings in the air. We don't have a big showroom with bright lights. Instead, there is wood leaning against the walls and tools scattered across the benches. Most of the work involves making chairs or fixing up old cupboards that have seen better days. It gets quite dusty inside, so we keep the fans going all day long. The traffic outside on the link road is always loud, but we are used to it by now. People from the neighborhood drop in to ask about a broken table leg or a new shelf for their kitchen. We usually have a few projects going at once, so there is always something to step over. It is honest work and our hands are usually covered in glue or sawdust by noon. We try to keep things simple and just do what the customer asks for without adding extra things they don't need. Sometimes we run out of space and have to move things out to the passage for a bit. It is a busy little spot and we like being part of the local community here on the road. We just keep our heads down and get the cutting and hammering done. It is just a regular workshop where things get made by hand, one piece at a time, until the job is finished.
