Our place is out in the MIDC area of Satpur at Plot D-29. Being in an industrial zone like this means our surroundings are mostly other factories and warehouses. It’s a different world compared to the residential parts of town. There is always the sound of machinery or trucks reversing nearby. At Global Foods, we spend our time on the production floor or in the warehouse area. We deal with food products in larger quantities, so there is a lot of heavy lifting and moving pallets around. The dust from the road sometimes gets in, and we are always cleaning something. It’s not a glamorous job. We wear our uniforms and stay focused on the tasks on the whiteboard. Sometimes the shipments are delayed and we have to adjust our schedule on the fly. We eat our lunch together in a small break room and talk about the weekend or the weather. Satpur can get really dry and hot, which makes the work a bit harder in the middle of the day. We don't have a mission statement on the wall or anything like that. We just know what needs to be packed and shipped by the end of the week. It’s about keeping the machines running and making sure the staff knows what to do. That’s just the way it goes here and we are fine with it.
