We set up Gelato Italian at Chowpatty Hill Road 39-A because the spot seemed right. It isn't a huge place, but there is enough room for what we do. A lot of time is spent in the back working on the different flavors and making sure the machines are running correctly. On hot days, the shop usually fills up with people coming off the hill or the beach. Keeping things moving is important so nobody has to wait too long for their order. You can usually find one of us behind the counter scooping or cleaning up the tables. No fancy words are used to describe what we sell; it’s just cold and tastes like what the label says. While there are a few tables, most people prefer to grab their cup or cone and walk around outside. The fridge has needed repairs more times than I can count, but that is just how it goes with this equipment. Being at 39-A means we see a constant mix of tourists and locals. We aren't part of some big chain, just a local spot on Chowpatty Hill Road. Some days are long, especially in the middle of summer, but the energy of the crowd makes it worth it. Decorations are kept simple so the product stays the main focus. It is just a small business trying to do things the right way.
