Our office is up on the fifth floor of Narayan Udyog Bhavan in Lal Baug. If you know Mumbai, you know how busy Lal Baug gets, especially when the big festivals are happening. We are actually right behind where the Lal Baug Raja sits, so during that time of year, the whole area is just packed with people and music and decorations. It makes getting to work a bit of a challenge but it’s part of the life here. The building itself is an older industrial type of place with a lot of different businesses tucked into every corner. We do communication work and our desks are usually piled high with papers and various devices that we use every day. It can get a bit loud with the traffic outside but we’ve learned to tune it out over the years. We started this small and have just kept at it from this same spot. There’s an old elevator that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, so we get plenty of exercise on the stairs when it's acting up. It’s a very Mumbai way of working, I think. We know the other people on our floor and we often share snacks or tea in the afternoon. It’s not a corporate environment at all, just a bunch of us trying to keep things moving and making sure we stay on top of the work we have to do. We just focus on getting through the daily list and handling whatever comes our way next.
