Fashion House (the)

Getting to Shah Industrial Estate every morning is always a bit of a challenge with the traffic on Sakivihar Road. We are located in the B Building, up on the first floor. It’s right opposite where K Llick Nixon is, or at least that’s how most people recognize the spot. Sakinaka is a hectic area, and Andheri East in general never really slows down. From our window on the first floor, we can see the cars and buses crawling along below. It’s a lot of grey buildings and industrial noise around here. Inside Fashion House (the), things are a bit quieter, but not by much. We’ve got the typical industrial estate feel—concrete floors and heavy doors. We spend our days sorting through items and keeping things moving. It’s a lot of manual work, nothing very glamorous. The lift in the building is a bit temperamental, so we often end up taking the stairs. By the time the afternoon rolls around, the heat in Sakinaka really picks up. We usually have a small fan going near the desk to keep the air moving. People who come to find us usually know the area well, otherwise they get lost in the maze of the estate. It’s just a standard work environment for us, tucked away in one of the busiest parts of the city. We just keep our heads down and do the work, day after day, until it is time to lock up and head home.
