Our company is Fabex Fabrics Private Limited and you can find us at 10 Ovalwadi, which is just off Vitthalwadi and Kalbadevi Road. This is one of the busiest parts of Mumbai when it comes to the fabric trade. If you walk down Kalbadevi Road, it’s just a sea of people, carts, and rolls of cloth. Our place is tucked away in the lane, which makes it slightly quieter than the main street, but only just. We’ve been operating in this area for quite some time. The office is old and the stairs are a bit steep, but it has a lot of character. We deal with all kinds of fabrics and the rooms are usually filled to the ceiling with stock. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the boxes and bundles everywhere. We don't have a fancy showroom. Most of our business is done right there on the shop floor or over the phone with long-time customers. The zip code is 400002 and being in South Mumbai means we are right in the thick of things. Lunch is usually something quick from a local stall while we keep an eye on the latest arrivals. We don't have a mission statement or a fancy board of directors. It’s just us working hard every day to move the fabric and keep the business going in a very competitive market. It's a tough place to work but it's what we know.
