F. D. Footwear

F. D. Footwear is tucked away at 15 Dholakia Mansion on Ghoghari Mohalla X Lane. It’s one of those old buildings that has seen a lot of history. Our space is on the X Lane, which can be a bit tricky to find if you aren't familiar with the Mohalla. We make shoes here, so there is always the sound of hammers and the smell of glue. It’s a small operation, really. We don't have a big corporate office or a shiny showroom. There are just piles of soles and uppers waiting to be put together. The light comes in through some old windows, and we have fans going all day to keep the air moving. It gets hot, especially in the afternoons. We started out just making a few pairs a day and it grew from there. We don't have any fancy mission statements. We just show up, sit at our benches, and try to make footwear that holds up. Sometimes the materials arrive late or the weather makes things difficult, but we just keep going. The X Lane is a narrow spot, and we know all the other shopkeepers around here. It feels like a little community. We just do our work at Dholakia Mansion and don't worry about being the best or the biggest. It's just a regular shoe-making shop run by people who have been doing this for years. We just keep our heads down.
