Expo Direct

People often miss the turn for Dheeraj Heritage because the S V Road traffic is always a bit much near the Milan Subway junction. We are up on the third floor in room thirty-three. It is one of those buildings that has been around for a while in Santacruz West. You can hear the trains sometimes if the windows are open, but mostly it is just the hum of the city. We have been here for a bit now. The morning commute is usually the hardest part of the day because of the junction, but once you get inside, it is quiet enough to get things done. There is a small tea stall around the corner where most of us go around four in the afternoon. It is nothing fancy, just a regular workplace where people show up and do their jobs. Sometimes the elevator acts up, so we take the stairs, which is good for the legs anyway. Expo Direct isn't a huge place, just a few rooms and some desks. We know the security guards by name and they know us. Living and working in this part of Mumbai means you get used to the noise and the crowds pretty fast. It is just how it is here. Most days are busy, and by the time we lock up, the sun is already down over the west side. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint maybe, but it feels like home to us.
