Esparanza Chocolates

We work out of Andheri West, on the main road at Horizon View Chs. It’s a residential building area but we have our space here at 702-2-A. We spend the whole day working with chocolate and sugar. It’s a lot of melting and cooling and putting things into the plastic molds. The smell of cocoa is everywhere and it stays on your clothes long after you leave. It’s not a big factory, just a small operation with a few of us. We do a lot of the wrapping by hand using colorful foil. It takes a lot of time to get it right so it looks neat. Sometimes the kitchen gets too warm and we have to stop for a bit to let things cool down. We live and work in this same neighborhood. Andheri is always loud outside but inside it’s mostly just the sound of the equipment or us talking about the day. We have to be very careful with the temperature of the room. It’s a bit of a tricky job but we have learned how to do it over the years. We aren't fancy people and we don't have a big storefront. We just like making these items for people. The boxes are stacked up in the corner ready to be picked up. We see the delivery guys coming and going all afternoon. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but we don't mind the quiet routine. We just keep an eye on the fridge.
