Emef Fabrics LLP is tucked away in the Kalbadevi area of Mumbai. If you know Mumbai, you know how crowded and busy Kalbadevi is. We are on Dhirubhai Parekh Marg, specifically in Ladwadi. Our office is in Laxmi Bhavan, on the first floor of Plot 76/86. It’s an old building with a lot of character and very narrow stairs that make it hard to carry things. We deal with all sorts of fabrics here. The market outside is always full of handcarts and people carrying big bales of cloth on their shoulders. It’s a chaotic place but there is a system to it. We spend our days surrounded by samples and order books. It gets very loud with all the shouting and traffic outside, but you get used to it after a week. We don't have a big reception area or any fancy chairs. You just walk in and we are there working at our desks. We’ve been in this spot for a long time. It’s a prime location for the textile trade, even if it is a bit cramped for space. We know most of the other traders in the building and on the street. We just try to get the orders right and keep the business moving. It’s a very traditional way of doing business, face to face and with a lot of tea. We don't need a lot of modern gadgets to do our work.
