Working at Dr. Mandhukar Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. means spending most of your day at C-158 in the Amar Gyan Industrial Estate. Being in Thane West has its ups and downs, mostly depending on how the trains are running or how stuck the road gets near Khopat. The office itself is pretty straightforward. We don’t have those open-plan setups you see in magazines. It’s more about rows of cabinets and the smell of paper and maybe a bit of medicine if a package is open. The light inside is a bit harsh from the long tubes on the ceiling, but you get used to it. Most of us have been here long enough that we don't really notice the industrial sounds from the other units in the estate anymore. There is a specific rhythm to the day, starting with the shutters going up and ending with the logs being signed. Lunch is usually a quick affair brought from home in steel dabbas, eaten while talking about nothing in particular. Sometimes we talk about the heat or how the building needs a new coat of paint. It’s a bit cramped when we get a big delivery, but we manage to shift things around. Nobody wears a suit here unless there is a very specific reason. It’s just a regular spot in a busy part of Thane where we handle the daily grind without making a fuss.
