If you walk into shop number 7 in Goregaon West, you’ll likely get sawdust on your shoes. That’s just how it is here. Dinesh Plywood and lamination Plaza is where we keep all the heavy sheets of wood and those shiny laminates people use for their kitchens and wardrobes. It’s a heavy business. We spend a lot of time moving sheets around so customers can see the patterns. Picking a laminate is a slow process; people stare at the samples for ages trying to decide between beige and slightly darker beige. I just let them take their time. My hands are usually dry from handling the wood, and there’s always a pencil behind my ear for marking measurements. The shop isn't a showroom with soft lighting. It’s more of a warehouse feel where we keep the stock ready for carpenters. Goregaon traffic is always a mess outside, but inside it’s just the smell of adhesive and cut timber. We don't have a fancy website or a mission statement. We just sell plywood. If a sheet has a small chip in the corner, we point it out before they buy it. Honesty is easier than dealing with a return later. It’s a local business run by people who know their wood. We’ve seen the neighborhood change over the years, but people still need furniture, so we’re still here, cutting boards and loading up tempos for deliveries.
