Decent Marriage Bureau

Down in Bandra West, specifically in Subhash Nagar, you’ll find us running the Decent Marriage Bureau. It’s a fairly straightforward place. We spend a lot of our time sitting at old wooden desks, going through folders and looking at photographs that families bring in. It’s a lot of talking and listening, really. People come in with all sorts of expectations and we just try to keep things realistic and grounded. The office is quiet most of the time, except for the sound of the ceiling fan and the occasional car horn from the street outside. We don't use any high-tech systems; it's mostly just paper records and notebooks where we jot down details. It might seem a bit old-fashioned to some, but it’s the way we’ve always done it and it works for the people who come to see us. Subhash Nagar is a decent enough area, though it gets a bit crowded during the peak hours. We’ve been in this same spot for quite a few years now. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the chairs aren't the most comfortable, but it serves its purpose. We don't put on any airs or graces here. It’s just a place for families to meet and talk about the future. It’s simple, personal work that keeps us busy throughout the week. We just take things as they come and try to stay organized.
