Dayaram Chappan Masala Namkeen

You can find us at 114 Dhanji Street, right at the Dadar Gully Corner in Zaveri Bazar. This area is famous for gold, but the lanes are also full of all kinds of other things. Our shop is where we handle all our masalas and namkeen. It is a small place, and we have to stack the bags and boxes quite high to make everything fit. The smell of spices is very strong here; it gets into your clothes by the end of the day. We spend most of our time mixing the different namkeens and making sure the spice blends are just right. It’s a lot of manual labor, scooping and weighing and packing. Zaveri Bazar is always crowded, so getting our supplies in and out can be a real headache. We have to time it just right or we get stuck in the middle of a massive traffic jam in those tiny gullies. We don't have any fancy mission statements or corporate goals. We just want to sell good stuff that people like to snack on. A lot of our customers have been coming to us for years, and they usually stop for a quick chat while they buy their supplies. It’s a friendly atmosphere despite how busy and cramped the street can be. We just keep doing what we do, day in and day out, at our little corner spot.
