Prabhadevi is always crowded and our office at 126-A Dhuruwadi is right in the middle of that daily rush. If you are looking for us on Av Nagwekar Marg, you just have to find the building where there is always someone carrying stacks of paper. We are Colour Publications and we have been at this for a long time. The floors are a bit worn down from people moving around all day. It’s not one of those glass buildings you see in the movies, it is just a solid place where we get the work done. There are books and magazines piled up on almost every flat surface, which makes it hard to find a pen sometimes. We have some old wooden chairs that creak when you sit, but they are comfortable enough for a long shift. The editors are usually hunched over their screens and the light from the windows isn't always great in the afternoons. Sometimes the tea lady comes by and that’s when everyone finally looks up from their desks. We don't have any big signs or flashing lights out front. It’s mostly just us doing the layout and checking the ink and making sure the pages look right before they go out. It’s a lot of repetitive work but it keeps us busy and the neighborhood is familiar to everyone here. We just focus on the printing and ignore the noise from the street as best we can.
