Our office is tucked away in Room No. 5 at Rahim Castle. It’s right across from Zam Zam Sweet on Sandhurst Road, so the smell of sugar is pretty much constant around here. It’s an old building, the kind where you have to know where you’re going or you might miss the entrance entirely. We do media work, mostly just sitting at our desks and dealing with whatever projects come our way that day. It’s not a fancy studio with glass walls or anything like that. We have some old posters on the walls and a lot of cables running across the floor. Sandhurst Road is always noisy, with the trains and the heavy traffic, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We started this because we wanted to work on media stuff without all the fuss of a big firm. Sometimes it’s a bit cramped when everyone is in at the same time, but we make it work. Most of our clients come to us through word of mouth. They know where we are, right by the sweet shop. We don’t have a big reception desk or a secretary. Usually, you just walk in and one of us will look up from a screen. It’s a practical way to run things, and it keeps us focused on the actual work instead of looking important. Life here is busy, a bit messy, and feels very real.
