Coco & Beans

We’re located in Matunga, which is a place we’ve always liked. It’s got that old-school feel and lots of trees. Coco & Beans is just our way of having a spot in the middle of it all. We spend a lot of time near the machines, making sure everything smells right. Coffee and chocolate are things people seem to need throughout the day, so we stay busy. It’s not a massive place, just enough room for some chairs and small tables. People come in to read the paper or just sit for a bit while they wait for someone. We see the same people every morning, which is nice. Matunga has a lot of history and we try to just fit in without making too much noise. The walls are a bit plain and the floor has some scuffs from all the feet walking over it. Sometimes we run out of a certain bean and have to suggest something else. People are usually pretty understanding about it. It’s just a local shop run by local people. We just open up, brew what needs brewing, and talk to whoever walks in. It’s a quiet life mostly. We’re glad to be here and part of the Matunga community. We actually spent a whole weekend just trying to get the front door to stop squeaking, but it still does it every time someone walks in. Now we just use it as a way to know a customer is there. The ceiling has a small water stain from a leak last monsoon, but it’s dry now. We didn't bother painting over it because it tells a story of the place.
