Our spot is up on Sinhagad Road at 27-A in the Malabar Hill area. It’s not really a shop with a big glass window, more of a workspace where we spend our days dealing with chocolate. My sister and I started this a few years back just for fun, and it kind of turned into a full-time thing. The kitchen isn't huge, so when we have a lot of orders, it gets pretty cramped with all the trays and bowls. We usually have cocoa powder on our aprons by ten in the morning. It’s a lot of manual work, stirring and dipping everything by hand. We don’t use those big industrial machines because we like to see how each batch turns out. Sometimes the temperature in the room gets a bit high, and we have to stop everything to let things cool down. It’s a bit of a struggle with the local weather here. We get a lot of people from the nearby apartments stopping by to pick up boxes for their families. We try to keep the labels straight, but sometimes they end up a little lopsided when we’re in a rush. It’s just the two of us most of the time, so we do everything from the cooking to the cleaning. We’ve been at this address for a while and the neighbors are used to the smell of sugar coming from our door. It’s a simple life but it keeps us busy.
