Chocolato

Chocolato is our small shop tucked into the Suraj Building on Gandhi Road. Breach Candy is a pretty lively area, and we’ve been here for a good bit of time now. We started this because we really just liked working with sweets and chocolate. It’s not a massive operation. It’s mostly just a few of us behind the counter. The shop is small, so it gets a bit crowded when more than three people walk in at once. We spend our mornings getting everything ready before the sun gets too high. Chocolate can be tricky in this humidity, so we have to be careful with the cooling. Most of the people who come in are neighbors or students from around here. We don't have a big corporate team or fancy marketing. It’s just us making stuff and hoping people like it. Sometimes we try new things and they work, sometimes they don't. We keep the display case full and try to keep the windows clean, though the dust from Gandhi Road makes that a daily job. It’s a quiet life mostly. We see the same people every morning on their way to work. It’s nice being a part of the daily routine for the locals. We aren't trying to be the biggest brand in the city. We just want to stay open and keep the neighborhood happy with something sweet. We don't have a big menu, just what we can make fresh.
