Chikkoo Leaf

You can find Chikkoo Leaf over on Lady Curzon Road in Chembur East. It’s a nice enough area with some old trees around. The shop is small and we try to keep it simple. We deal with various items, mostly things that feel a bit more natural. The floor is made of old tiles that are slightly uneven in the corners. I spend my mornings tidying up the displays and making sure things look presentable. There isn't much of a staff, usually just me and one other person helping out. We don't have a big fancy sign, just the name painted near the entrance. Sometimes the door sticks when the weather is damp, so you have to give it a good push. I like the light that comes in through the front window in the afternoon. It makes the whole place feel a bit warmer. We have a lot of regular visitors who live nearby. They don't always buy something; sometimes they just stop in to say hello while they’re out for a walk. I use an old metal cash box instead of a modern register. It’s a bit noisy when it opens. We don't do much advertising or anything like that. We just focus on what we have on the shelves and hope people like it. It’s a slow and steady kind of business here in Chembur. We are just here doing our thing day by day. Every now and then we get something new in, and that's always a bit of a nice surprise for the regulars.
