Mughbat Lane is narrow and tucked away, so it has a different feel than the big main roads. Being in a chawl means we are close to our neighbors and there is always something going on just outside the door. We deal with steel and alloys, which is a heavy business for such a small, tucked-away office. The office itself is simple, with just the basic furniture and a lot of ledgers and files. It stays relatively cool on the ground floor, which is a blessing during the Mumbai summers. We have been part of this neighborhood for quite a bit of time. It is not the kind of place you would expect to find a steel company, but it works for us. We know everyone around here, from the tea seller to the other small shop owners. There is a lot of history in these walls. We don't spend money on fancy signs or expensive interiors. We just focus on the metals and making sure the business keeps running smoothly. It is a bit of a squeeze when we have visitors, but we always find a place for them to sit. It is just a humble, hardworking office in the heart of the city.
