S. K. Heels

Our spot is in the Vatsala Tai Naik Industrial Compound, right near the Chembur bus depot. It’s an industrial area so it’s always got that hum of work going on. We make heels here. It is a specific kind of work that takes some patience. The compound E-203/08 can be a little hard to find if you aren't used to the layout. We have our tools and the materials all organized in the back. Usually, the smell of glue and leather is the first thing you notice when you walk in. We spend the day putting things together and checking that everything holds up right. It isn’t the quietest place because of the machines and the traffic from the depot nearby. People are always moving around in Chembur. We've got a small team. Everyone knows their job. We don’t have a big reception area or anything flashy. Just a place where we work. If you come by, you’ll probably see us middle of a batch. We try to stay busy and get the heels ready for whoever needs them. Sometimes things get a bit messy with the scraps on the floor but we clean up at the end of the shift. It’s just how an industrial workshop looks when people are actually working. There is no point in making it look like something it is not. We just do the job.
