About Brijwasi Sweets – Food & Beverages in Mumbai
I’ve been working at Brijwasi Sweets on Marol Maroshi Road for a good while now. It’s a busy spot right near the Church Gate area. Every morning starts early here, usually around five or six, when the milk arrives and we start setting up the counters. It gets really loud outside with the traffic, but inside it smells like cardamom and sugar. People stop by on their way to work to grab something quick, or maybe they’re heading home and want a box for the family. We don’t really do fancy things, just the usual stuff you’d expect at a sweet shop. The floors are a bit worn from all the walking back and forth, and the glass cases always need wiping down because kids touch them. Sometimes it's hard to keep up when a big festival is coming, and the kitchen gets incredibly hot. My hands are usually sticky by noon. We’ve known some of the regular customers for years, seeing their kids grow up and come in on their own now. It’s just a normal place, nothing too special to look at from the outside, but it keeps us busy. We mostly just focus on making sure the trays are full and the tea is hot. The fan in the corner makes a bit of a clicking sound that you get used to after an hour or so. Marol is a fast place, but here, things stay pretty much the same day to day. We just keep going.
