Brijwasi Sweets Centre

We are over at Santacruz West Samrala Chowk 10. It gets pretty loud outside with all the traffic coming through the junction. Most mornings start early, like five or six, just getting the milk ready and making sure the glass counters are wiped down. Sometimes the delivery guy is late and things get a bit chaotic behind the counter while we wait. We’ve been in this spot for a long time now. People walk by on their way to work and sometimes they stick their head in just to see what is on the trays today. The floor gets sticky by noon, no matter how many times we mop it. It is just how it is in a sweet shop. We have the usual stuff like laddoos and those milk-based things people buy for their families. It is not fancy here. The lightbulbs flicker sometimes if we have too many things plugged in at once. Usually, someone is in the back stirring a big pot with a wooden paddle. It is hot work, especially in the summer months when the air does not move much in this part of Santacruz. We just try to keep things moving and get the orders right for everyone. Sometimes we run out of the nice boxes and have to use the plain white ones. It is a bit of a squeeze when more than four people come in at once because the shop is small. You just find a spot and wait.
