Our place, BR Fabtex LLP, is tucked away on the first floor of the Om Shanti Building. If you know the Kalbadevi area, you know how busy it gets around Hanuman Lane. We are right off Babu Genu Road, which is always packed with people and handcarts moving back and forth. The stairs up to our unit are a bit narrow and old, but that is just how the buildings are in this part of Mumbai. Most of our days are spent surrounded by big stacks of fabric rolls and bundles of cloth. It gets quite noisy outside with all the traffic and shouting, but inside we just keep our heads down and focus on getting the orders ready. The space in Plot 40/42 isn't exactly huge, but it works for what we do every day. We have been in this neighborhood for a good while now, so we are used to the rhythm of the market and the occasional power cuts. There is no fancy showroom or plush chairs here. It is just a practical workspace where we handle the textile business and deal with our suppliers. Usually, there are rolls of fabric everywhere and someone is always on the phone trying to coordinate a delivery. It gets a bit cramped when a new shipment arrives, but we always find a corner to fit everything in eventually. If you are looking for us, just find the building near the lane entrance.
