Blue River

Blue River is located at Shop No.6 in the Hari Om Co-Operative Housing Society Ltd. We are right there in Kanya Pada, along Gen.A.Vaidy Marg in Goregaon East. It’s a convenient spot for the people who live in the society and the surrounding buildings. The shop is small, so we have to be very careful about how we stack things on the shelves. Being in Mumbai, we have to deal with the heavy rains during the monsoon, and sometimes the water gets close to the doorstep, but we haven't had any real trouble yet. Goregaon East is a busy part of the city, and the road outside is almost always packed with cars and rickshaws. We get a lot of regulars who stop in on their way home from the station. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything fancy like that. It’s just a neighborhood shop where we try to keep things tidy and help out whoever walks through the door. Sometimes the lights flicker when the building's generator kicks in, but we just keep going. We know most of our customers by name, and we often spend a few minutes chatting about the weather or the traffic. It’s a simple life running a shop in a housing society. We like the routine of opening up in the morning and seeing the same familiar faces every day. It feels like we are part of the neighborhood.
