Bata Shoe Store

Working at the Bata Shoe Store in Infinity Mall is pretty much what you’d expect from a retail job in a big city. We are on the second plot, shop 235. It gets really crowded on weekends when everyone is out shopping with their families. We spend a lot of time putting shoes back in boxes and making sure the sizes are right on the shelves after people try them on. It’s a lot of standing and walking around, which is funny because we spend all day selling shoes to people who want to be comfortable. The mall air conditioning is a relief when it’s hot outside. We have all kinds of people coming in. Some people know exactly what they want, others take forever to decide between two pairs of shoes. We just try to help them find a pair that fits okay without pushing them too much. It’s not like those fancy boutiques where everything is quiet. It’s a bit noisy, and there’s always music playing from the other stores down the hall. We get our shipments in heavy boxes, we unpack them, and we put them out on the floor. That’s the daily cycle we follow. Sometimes the small coffee machine in the back breaks, which is a bit of a pain when we are tired. But mostly, it’s just a normal job in a busy mall. We see the same faces sometimes, people who work nearby or come in every few months for something new.
