Balaram Orchestra Entertainment Agency is over in Sion, at Jethwa Nagar on V L Road. We are in the CGS Colony, Sector 6, specifically building 200/2343. It’s a government colony area, so it’s got a specific feel to it with lots of similar buildings and families who have lived here for decades. Our place is usually full of instruments and cables. You might hear someone testing a microphone or practicing a keyboard part if you walk past at the right time. We organize musicians and performers for all sorts of things. It’s not a high-tech operation. We have a big diary where we write down all the dates and who is supposed to go where. Sometimes musicians call out sick at the last minute and we have to scramble to find a replacement, which is always stressful. We’ve been in Sion for a long time now. The colony is a good place to work from because it’s relatively quiet during the day. We aren't a big agency with a receptionist; it’s usually just one of us answering the phone while trying to fix a broken speaker wire or find a lost drumstick. It’s a lot of manual work, loading the van with heavy drums and amplifiers. But we’ve been doing it so long it just feels normal now. We just try to keep the music going and make sure the equipment doesn't fail when it matters most. It's a bit of a chaotic life but we enjoy it.
