Bakes N Bites

Our shop, Bakes N Bites, is located in the Hari Leela building on Ram Mandir Rd. We are right opposite the Kalra Shukla Classes in Vile Parle East. It’s a great spot because there are always students around looking for a snack. We aren't a massive bakery with a factory. It’s just a small kitchen and a counter where we sell what we make. The ovens are usually running from early morning, so the place stays pretty warm. We started this because we liked baking, and it turned into a full-time job. It’s not always easy; sometimes a batch of cookies burns or the delivery guy is late. We don't have a fancy uniform, just aprons that usually have flour on them. Vile Parle East has a nice community feel, and we’ve gotten to know the regulars who come in every afternoon. We don't use any special marketing tricks. We just put the trays out and hope people like what they see. The sign outside is a bit faded from the sun, but everyone knows we are there. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and washing trays, but we don't mind. We just keep things moving and try to stay organized in the small space we have. Most days we are sold out by evening, which is always a good sign that we are doing okay.
