Our office is up on the 5th floor of the Hallmark Business Plaza. It is right across from Guru Nanak Hospital in Bandra East, so there is always a lot of traffic and sirens outside the window. Mumbai is a noisy place, and this corner of it is no different. We deal with minerals, which might seem strange for an office in a big business building, but this is where all the planning and the phone calls happen. We have some computers, a lot of files, and a coffee machine that gets a lot of use. The elevator is sometimes slow, so we end up waiting around with the people from the other offices on our floor. It is a bit of a change from the actual sites where the minerals come from. Here, we are mostly looking at spreadsheets and talking to buyers. We have a small team, and we have been working together for a good bit of time now. Sometimes we go out for lunch near the hospital just to get a break from the desks. It isn't a glamorous life, just a lot of coordination and making sure the logistics side of things doesn't fall apart. We don't have a lot of decorations on the walls, just some maps and calendars. It is a practical space for practical work. We are just trying to keep the business running smoothly in the middle of all the Bandra chaos.
