Archies Tours & Travels has its office at 76 Podar Estate on Podar Road in Malad East. We are right near the Laxmi Narayan Shpg Centre, so it’s easy to grab lunch nearby. Working in travel means I spend half my life looking at flight schedules and the other half explaining why prices went up overnight. It’s a small shop and we have brochures sitting in the window that have probably faded from the sun. People walk in asking about trains or holidays, and we just try to find them something that fits their budget without too much fuss. Malad East is a busy place, and the noise from the street usually comes right through the door. We have a couple of old desks and a printer that jams way too often. It’s just how it goes here. Sometimes the internet goes down and we can’t book anything for an hour, which is frustrating but we just chat with the customers until it’s back. We don't do fancy packages with ribbons; we just get people their tickets and tell them where they need to go. It’s practical work. My family started this and we’ve just kept it going because people still like to talk to a person rather than a website. It’s a long day, but it’s decent work and we get to hear some good stories from travelers. I’ve lived in Malad my whole life so I know the area well.
