Ankit Cool Cab Services is located in Vile Parle East, right by the domestic airport. It’s a busy spot to be in, but it works for a taxi business. We mostly handle local runs and airport drops, but we do longer trips too if someone asks. The office is pretty small, mainly just a spot to keep the keys and take bookings over the phone. We’ve been around this area for a few years and the drivers know the shortcuts to avoid the worst of the traffic, though sometimes you just can't win against the Mumbai roads. We aren't a huge corporation with hundreds of cars. We have a modest fleet and we try to keep them in good shape. It’s a lot of early mornings and late nights, especially when flights are delayed. We don't use any fancy apps; we just talk to people and write things down in a notebook. It’s a bit old-fashioned but it works for us. Most of our regulars are folks from the neighborhood or business travelers who come through the airport often. We just try to be there when we say we will. There’s always something to do, whether it’s checking the oil or cleaning out the back seat. It’s honest work and it keeps us moving. The airport area never really sleeps, so someone is usually here or on call at all times of the night. We just keep at it.
