My father started this over in Borivali West a long time ago. We’re still at number 12, and not much has changed in terms of how we do things. We do decorations for various events, mostly local stuff like weddings or small parties in the neighborhood. We have a lot of bamboo poles, fabrics, and lights tucked away in the back. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes when we have three jobs going at once. The sons, that’s us, we grew up watching how the flowers are tied and how the tents are put up. It’s hard work, especially when the weather is hot and you’re standing on a ladder all day. We don’t have a website or anything like that, most people just walk in or call because they saw our work at a cousin’s wedding. Borivali is a busy place and getting the truck through the narrow lanes is always a challenge. We’ve had the same laborers for years, and they know the drill better than anyone. Sometimes we run out of a specific color of cloth and have to rush to the market, but we always make it work. It’s a family thing, so we argue sometimes about where to put the stage, but it gets done. We aren’t trying to win awards, we just want the event to look okay and the family to be happy.
