Ambika Sweets & Farsan

We are located in Malad East, specifically at number 2. It’s a busy little area and we are right in the middle of it. If you come by during the festival season, you’ll see how crazy it gets here. We have trays of sweets stacked up and bags of farsan hanging from the hooks. The glass on our display cases gets smudged pretty often because of all the people pointing at what they want. We try to wipe it down, but by midday, it’s back to how it was. My brother and I run the place with a couple of helpers. We grew up around these smells, so we don't even notice them anymore, but people tell us the shop smells like sugar and fried dough from down the block. We don’t use any fancy packaging, just the standard cardboard boxes and plastic ties. Sometimes the floor gets a bit sticky, especially when we’re moving the syrup tubs around. It’s a lot of standing on your feet all day, but we’re used to it. We have a regular crowd of aunties who come in every week for their snacks. They usually stay for a chat, which slows things down, but we don't mind much. It’s just how the neighborhood is. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just know we are here and they come when they need something for tea time or if a guest is coming over.
