If you go through Saraswathi Nagar 3 in Powai, you’ll find us. We’re the ones with all the fabric rolls and folded chairs stacked up. Doing decorations for weddings and parties is what keeps us moving. It's a lot of manual labor, carrying poles and heavy bundles of cloth in the heat. We don't have a showroom with fancy lights. Mostly, we just have a big storage space and a table where we plan things out. My uncle started this years ago, and now we all help out. Powai has grown so much, and there are always events happening nearby. Sometimes we’re up at four in the morning to start setting up a mandap before the sun gets too hot. It's hard work, and our backs often ache by the end of the weekend. We use a lot of fresh flowers, so the shop usually smells like jasmine or roses for a few days. We don't do those huge corporate events with big screens; we like the local family stuff more. It feels more personal when you know the family you’re helping. Things don't always go perfectly—sometimes a curtain won't hang right or we run out of a certain color—but we always find a way to make it look decent. We’re just a family business trying to make things look a bit nicer for a special day. We keep it simple and just do our best for the folks here.
