We’re located in the Bagh-E-Rabani Apartment building in Agripada. It’s an interesting setup for a business like H Shoe Exports, being in an apartment block, but it works for us. You have to navigate the stairs and the hallways to find our unit. It doesn't look like an export house from the outside, just another door in the building. Inside, though, it’s all about shoes. Every corner has boxes stacked up, and there’s usually the smell of leather or glue in the air. Agripada is a crowded, busy neighborhood, and our space reflects that. It’s tight, but we make use of every inch of floor space. We spend our days checking pairs, packing them into crates, and making sure the labels are right. It’s not glamorous work. There’s no lobby with leather chairs for visitors. You’ll probably have to step over a box of soles just to get to the desk. We don’t mind the cramped quarters because we’re focused on the task at hand. The neighbors in the apartment are used to the sound of us moving things around. It’s a small operation in terms of space, but we stay busy from morning until late evening. We don’t use big words to describe what we do. We just export shoes from a small flat in Agripada. Most of the time, the elevator is broken, so we carry everything by hand and hope for the best.
