Agarwal Sweets Snacks

Out here in Mira Road at Hathisingh Wadi, things move a bit slower than in the middle of the city. We are at A/57. Agarwal Sweets Snacks is just a regular shop where we make what people need for their tea time. Every morning we start early to get the snacks ready. The smell of frying usually fills up the whole wadi before most people are even awake. Neighbors sometimes complain about the oil smell, but they still come in to buy their breakfast. We have these large metal trays lined up on the counter. It’s mostly just us working here, tossing things in the pans and packing them into paper bags. The floor is always a bit dusty because of the construction nearby, so we are always sweeping. We don't have a big fancy menu or anything like that. We just make what we know how to make. People stop by on their way to work or when they are headed home in the evening. The rains make it hard sometimes because the water collects right in front of the door. We have to put out some bricks for people to step on so they don't get their feet wet. It’s just how it is living and working in this part of town. We’ve seen many other shops come and go over the years, but we are still here at the same spot. It’s not a big life, but it keeps us busy every day and we know our neighbors.
