Working in a BPO like this means the office never really sleeps. There is always someone on the phones or typing away at a keyboard even when it is middle of the night outside. We have these rows of cubicles that stretch out and it gets quite loud when everyone is talking to customers at once. You get used to the noise after a week or two though. We have a small break room where the microwave always smells like someone’s lunch from earlier. Most of us live on tea and the occasional biscuit just to keep the energy up during the long shifts. It is not the most glamorous work but it keeps the lights on and the team is actually pretty decent. We help people solve their problems over the phone or through chat and sometimes it's easy and sometimes it’s a real headache. The managers are just regular people trying to keep the schedules straight which is a big job given how many of us work here. We don't really do much in the way of big parties but we might have some sweets if it’s someone’s birthday. The office is just a regular building with a lot of wires and headsets. We try to keep things moving and make sure the calls get answered. It is a fast-paced place and you have to be quick on your feet or at least quick with your fingers on the keys.
