Operating out of A-602 in Shri Durga Apartment is a bit different from being in a big commercial market. It is much quieter here in Sector 10 of Sanpada. We use the extra bedrooms for the sewing machines and the main living area is where we do all the packing. Sometimes the neighbors in the building complain if we stay working too late, so we try to finish everything by seven in the evening. It is a bit of a walk from the station to get here, but it is a nice enough residential area. We have piles of finished clothes sitting on the sofas sometimes when we are really busy with orders. My sister helps me with all the stitching and I handle the customer orders and the shipping. We use a small folding table for the iron, and it gets pretty hot in that small room. The balcony is where we keep all the empty cardboard boxes for packing. It is not a huge setup, just us working from home mostly. We get the fabric from the main market and bring it up in the building lift, which can be a bit tricky if the rolls are very long. Navi Mumbai has its own slow pace, and we just follow it. We do not have any outside employees, just family members helping out. It is practical for us and works well.
