Adarsh Sweets & Farsan

We are over in Mahim at number 6. Adarsh Sweets & Farsan has been around for a while, and the shop looks like it. We have big glass jars filled with different kinds of snacks and trays of sweets lined up. Every morning the smell of frying starts early. We make the farsan in the back and then bring it out to the front counters. It is a bit of a cramped space with the big scales and the heavy bags of flour sitting around. We don't have a fancy menu or anything. Most people just point at what they want and we weigh it out for them. The floor is usually a bit dusty from the flour, but we sweep it when we can. We have a few regulars who come in every single day for their usual tea-time snacks. Sometimes we run out of the popular stuff by the afternoon, and we have to tell people to come back tomorrow. We don't use any high-tech equipment, just the same pots and pans we’ve had for years. It is a lot of manual labor, lifting heavy trays and standing on our feet all day long. Mahim 6 is a busy area, and we get all sorts of people coming through the door. We just focus on keeping the bins full and making sure the math is right when we charge the customers. It’s just a local sweet shop doing things the old way without any fuss or modern gadgets.
