Abdul Kader Zari Works

Abdul Kader Zari Works is found at Plot No G 8 in the Shivaji Nagar area of Govandi. This is where all the manual work happens. Zari work requires a lot of patience and a steady hand, so our workspace is set up to allow for that kind of focus. The plot is not a big industrial factory. It is a more personal, local workshop. We have frames and threads scattered around, and there is usually the sound of needles and fabric being moved. Shivaji Nagar in Govandi is a crowded neighborhood, and our workshop fits right into the mix of houses and small shops. It is a place where we spend long hours. We do not have a fancy showroom or a website with professional photos. Most of our work is seen by people who come directly to Plot G 8. The lighting is bright so we can see the fine details of the thread, but the rest of the place is very simple. We have been doing this for a long time and we just focus on the craft itself. It is a bit dusty and cramped sometimes, but that is the reality of a working zari shop. We take pride in the actual work we do with our hands, day in and day out.
