Our office for A K Airways is located at number three, Khimji Karsan Chawl, which is in the Patel area of Ghatkopar East. It’s not a big airport office or a high-end travel lounge; it’s a small, honest space where we handle flight-related things. We are right in the heart of the community here. The chawl has its own rhythm, and we are just one part of it. People often walk in from the street to ask about ticket prices or how to get to different places. We spend most of our time at our desks looking at screens and talking to people about their travel plans. Ghatkopar East is a lively neighborhood, so there is always someone passing by the window or stopping to chat. The office is simple—just enough room for us and a few chairs for visitors. We don’t go in for a lot of decorations. It’s more about the practical side of getting people from one place to another. Sometimes it gets a bit loud with the local traffic and the daily life of the chawl, but that’s just how it is in Mumbai. We’ve been here long enough that the neighbors know who we are. It’s a busy job, especially during the holiday seasons when everyone wants to fly somewhere, but we just take it one booking at a time and try to keep everything straight in our records.
