We've been around Matel Road for a while now. The factory is right near the Amardham Ashram in Wankaner. It's a busy spot, mostly dust and trucks coming in and out all day. We make vitrified porcelain tiles here. It’s hard work, keeping the kilns running and making sure the batches come out right. Most of the guys working here are locals from the surrounding villages. We just try to keep things moving. Sometimes the machines act up or the power flickers, but that's just how it goes in this part of Gujarat. We don't have a big fancy office with air conditioning everywhere. It’s mostly just the warehouse and the production floor. If you come by, you'll probably see us covered in a bit of clay dust. We started this because there was a demand for good tiles and the clay around here is decent. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to provide for our families and keep the orders filled. It’s a lot of physical labor, stacking crates and checking for cracks. The road out front is often bumpy, so loading the trucks takes a bit of care. We have a small team in the office handling the paperwork, but most of us are out back. We’ve seen the area change over the years as more factories popped up. It’s noisy and hot, especially in the summer months. We just get on with it. If you need to find us, just look for the ashram and follow the road down.
