Adgadanand Farmer Producer Company Limited is a small group of us from around Madfa village in the Chunar area of Mirzapur. We have been farming these lands for generations, but things are changing, so we thought we should organize. We are registered at the address in Hinauti. It’s not a fancy setup. We mostly meet up after the day's work is done to talk about what we need for the next planting season. The hills around here make things a bit different than the flat plains. We grow what we can and try to help each other get the best results. It’s a lot of physical labor, and we don't always have the best tools, but we make do. We started this company because we were tired of being pushed around by middle men who don't understand how hard it is to grow anything. Now we try to talk to the buyers ourselves. It’s a slow process and we are still learning the ropes. None of us went to business school. We just know how to look at the soil and the sky. Sometimes we sit under the trees in the afternoon and just plan out the month. It’s a simple life. We aren't looking for fame, just a way to keep our farms going and our kids fed. That’s the long and short of it for us. We just take it day by day and hope for the best for the village.
